Dash Cam of the Mind

Published on

Having a bit of a mind blank
at this moment in time.
Know what I want to write,
if we are discussing the prosey avenues,
but in the pome lane I am doing
a three point turn into obscurity.

I have lost the indicators,
my foot is firmly on the brake,
and all I can wonder, as I frantically
check both mirrors, is
“Why am I not going forward?”

This is one of the most torturous analogies
I think I have ever done, but
it does seem apt.
My brain is a car that has stalled
and these roadworks to patch the potholes
in my creativity river
are unmanned, and the lights no longer function.

This road needs some care
and the council are too busy looking after
the engagement sectors (which are needed
to feign interest at work).
Only so much funding to be spread around
and boy are these coffers running dry.
