A Pome a Day for a Year

Holiday starts today, end of work day,
end of work for days,
end of working for the days I do not wish to work,
ending the work of the days I would work,
basically,
no more work for a bit.

Shame that work became a thing at all,
this limited time we have
these limited hours given to us
and no one knows exactly how many
that they have locked away
in your annal of time,
but still.
That we decided the only way we could function
was with middle managers
and overtime?

I have always had to work, been required to
whether by bills or parents,
I have worked since 14 and boy
would I dig a year to myself,
to properly unwind and figure out who
I truly am without the crushing weight
of salary requirements.
