A Pome a Day for a Year

The Denny’s has a ball pit,
special use only, for the business men,
the ones tired from seating
themselves in cubicles with
A4 pages of dread faxing through
their worlds of digital stocks.

The ballpit is for their inner child,
buried deep under ‘yes I cans’
and overtime, that pile on top
every day that office,
now the home of the weary heart,
slowly becomes the silent grave.
